Welcome to ChoreForge! ๐จ
Kids earn real rewards for helping out, and learn to save, spend and give wisely. Here's the grand tour.
๐ Getting set up (parents)
1. Tap Start your family, create an account and sign in, then choose a parent PIN. The PIN keeps grown-up controls safe on shared devices.
2. The starter wizard adds kids, emojis, private PINs and optional responsibilities by age. Suggested rewards are editable; you can skip chores. Later, use the ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Family tab to add more kids.
3. Want kids on their own devices? Use Kid invitations to send each kid an invite link. They create their own account with the invited email, and their account links to their profile โ so everyone sees the same family data everywhere.
4. Forgotten PINs are no problem: parents can reset any kid's PIN from the Family tab, and reset their own from the home screen.
๐งน Jobs & Responsibilities
Responsibilities are repeating tasks โ daily or weekly โ like making the bed or feeding the dog. Assign them to a kid, or turn on rotation so the task passes between kids automatically.
Jobs are one-time paid gigs, like washing the car. Assign one to a specific kid, or post it to the ๐ Needs Done board where any kid can volunteer for extra money.
Every task has a dollar reward. Kids can also attach a photo as proof when they finish.
โ Doing your tasks (kids)
Your page shows My Jobs & Responsibilities. When you finish one, tap โ Done! โ you can even snap a photo to show off your work.
Your grown-up then reviews it. If they tap Approve, the money lands in your wallet right away. If they tap Needs Work, you'll see their note and can try again.
Want extra cash? Check the ๐ Needs Done board and volunteer for open jobs!
๐ Trading tasks with siblings
Don't want to do the dishes tonight? A sibling can take over your task and earn the reward instead. It needs a yes from you and approval from a parent โ so no sneaky swaps!
๐ฅ Streak days โ earn bonus money!
Mark 2 or more tasks done in a day and that day counts toward your streak. Streak days only count when they come in a run of 2+ days in a row โ one great day alone doesn't start a streak.
Each streak day earns 1 point, and every point adds a bonus (5% by default) to the money you earn from chores โ up to +50% extra! A 10-day streak at 5% per point means every chore pays half again as much. ๐ค
Watch out: miss one day and you lose a point. Miss 2 days in a row and your streak resets to zero. Streaks also start fresh on the 1st of every month.
Good news: your day counts the moment you mark tasks done โ even if your parent approves them later. Grade-card money doesn't get the streak bonus, though.
๐ฆ Spend ยท Save ยท Give jars
Every dollar earned is split automatically into three jars โ the family default is 70% Spend, 20% Save, 10% Give, and parents can change the split for the whole family or per kid.
๐ณ Spend is money kids can cash out. ๐ฆ Save builds toward goals. ๐ Give is set aside for gifts and charity. Kids can move money from Spend into Save anytime.
๐ฏ Goals, trophies & savings match
Set a savings goal โ a bike, a game, anything โ and watch the progress bar fill as your Save jar grows. The app even estimates how many tasks it will take!
Fill your trophy case with badges for milestones like your first earnings, big streaks and completed goals.
If your family turns on the monthly savings match, parents add a bonus matching a percentage of what you saved last month โ saving literally pays!
๐ Celebrations & reaching goals
Task submissions, new streak milestones (3, 7, 14 and 21 consecutive days), and newly reached savings goals get a celebration. Use the speaker button to turn sounds on or off. Motion follows your device's reduced-motion preference.
Parents can use Money habits โ Ready to buy to mark a goal purchased after paying outside the app. This deducts the target from Save and records the purchase once.
๐ค Family advances & Give matching
Parents can issue an interest-free virtual advance in Money habits. It goes to Spend; record a cash/outside payout when handed over. Only one active advance per kid is allowed.
The chosen percentage of future approved chore earnings automatically repays the advance before the remaining money splits into jars. Grade rewards and matches never repay it, and repayments stop when the advance is settled.
Parents can optionally match Give donations (0โ100%). Record a donation already paid from Give to add the eligible match back to Give. Matched dollars never earn another match.
๐ Weekly family report
The Weekly report tab shows each kid's submitted and approved tasks, earnings, week-end streak points, jar movements and advance repayments. Pick a week or print it for your family check-in. Current wallet balances are shown separately.
๐ Grade cards & bonuses
In the ๐ Grade cards tab, set a dollar value per grade (A, B, Cโฆ). When report cards come out, enter each kid's grades and pay them in a couple of taps.
You can also set a straight-A bonus for a perfect report card, and an attendance bonus for a period with no missed school (doctor's appointments don't count against it).
๐ธ Payday & payments
The weekly payday review sums up each kid's approved earnings and streak bonuses. When you hand over cash (or pay outside the app), tap Mark paid โ the Spend jar settles and everything is recorded in payment history.
Partial payouts are fine too โ pay part of a balance and the rest stays in the wallet.
๐ Calendar, reminders & the fridge chart
Parents add appointments and events to the family calendar; kids see what's coming up on their own page.
Reminders nudge kids about tasks still to do, and let parents know when things are waiting for approval.
Love paper? Print the weekly fridge chart โ a checkbox grid of who's doing what each day.
๐ PINs & privacy
Everyone unlocks their profile with a PIN, so kids can't peek at sibling wallets or parent controls. Kid accounts only ever see their own money and tasks.
Parents can reset any forgotten PIN. Too many wrong guesses temporarily locks a profile, keeping everyone's stuff safe.
